Mr. Tanvir Ahmad Sheikh President FPCCI has nominated Mr. S M Muneer as Chairman of Pakistan - Canada Business Council of FPCCI for the year 2009. Mr. S M Muneer is a prominent businessman and Industrialist. He has also served as President of FPCCI and presently he is enjoying the portfolio of President of Indo Pak Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Vice Chairman of Muslim Commercial Bank of Pakistan and Chairman of Ms/. Din Group of Industries which is one of the leading Industries of Pakistan.
Mr. S M Muneer having rich experience of international trading particularly with Europe, Canada and USA , has expressed his determination to activate the Pakistan - Canada Business Council to facilitate the business communities of the two countries. He said that new avenues will be explored for promotion of bilateral trade, economic relations and joint ventures possibilities in various sectors.
He said that exports from Pakistan to Canada was to the tune of US $ 204.69 million while import from Canada was US $ 319.517 million during the year 2007 - 08 and the major items exported during this period included made up textile articles, rags, apparel cloth access, cotton yarn & woven fabrics, leather & leather goods and carpets & floor coverings while imports items included boilers, machinery & mechanical applieance, edible vegetables, Petroleum products & oil, telecommunication appl/eqpt, oil seeds, and grains etc.
Mr. S M Muneer further stated that his committee will organize Made in Pakistan Exhibition in Toronto Canada for which necessary preparations have been initiated with the cooperation of Pakistan Consulate General in Toronto.
