Tribute paid to Late Sabihuddin Ghausi,Veteran,
Senior Journalist & news Editor "Dawn"

To pay a Tribute, Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) hold a meeting at KCCI today to express heartfelt condolence on the sad demise of fellow brother late Sabihuddin Ghausi veteran and senior Journalist and News Editor of Daily Dawn, who had passed away peacefully during his sleep here early on Thursday morning.
Mr. Anjum Nisar, President KCCI speaking on the occasion briefly discussed personality of late Sabihuddin Ghausi that he was a man of head and heart, throughout his life, he remained committed to the ideals of freedom of the Press and democratic principles and strove with the power of his pen to bring a social change in the society for a better life to teeming millions.
He left behind besides a widow, two elder brothers Fasihuddin Ghausi and Misbahuddin Ghausi in Pakistan and an elder sister in India and a host of his admirers among members of the journalists' fraternity and business community. Late Ghausi hailed from an educated family from Ahmadabad (Gujrat, India) where his father was a Sessions Judge in Junagarh High Court and before forcible Indian Annexation of the state of Junagarh, he used to be the Revenue Commissioner in Manawader State. (After the Indian Occupation) the family migrated to Pakistan.
He started his career from the Habib Bank as an officer, but finding the job against his temperament and ideals had resigned and started his journalism career in 1970 by joining daily Sun Karachi, which was then newly launched. After closure of the paper he switched over to Pakistan Press International (PPI) and before switching over to daily Dawn Karachi in 1986 he also worked for daily Muslim Islamabad. Daily Business Recorder and Morning News Karachi. For his ideals and commitment to freedom of the Press he also suffered hardships of unemployment and imprisonment beginning of 1980's but never compromised on the principles.
Mr. Anjum Nisar expressed grief and sorrow on sad demise of Sabihuddin Ghausi, Senior Journalists. He said that his death has created a vacuum in the circles of journalism which cannot be fulfilled, Late Sabiihuddin Ghausi was a very sincere and devoted journalist who rendered his responsibilities and services with great courage and passion. His services as President Karachi Press Club & Union of Journalists would be remembered forever. He believed in Free-Journalism for which he faced colossal hardships and was also castigated to prison to. A resolution was passed to express deep condolence and sympathies with members of bereaved family with a pray to Almighty Allah to empower the family to face the sorrow with patience and bless the departed soul.
Mr. Siraj Kassam Teli, Chairman, Businessmen Group (BMG) and Former President, KCCI, in his address on the occasion highlighted the qualities and capabilities the late Sabihuddin Ghousi had while performing his journalistic duties according to his impartial reporting. He requested the Chamber's Chief to make arrangements by collecting the articles written by the late journalist on the trade and economy of the country and compile the same in a "Book" which would prove a guidelines for business community and the follower of the journalism for their guidance as role model.
Mr. Muhammad Jawed Bilwani, Senior Vice President and Members Managing Committee of KCCI fully participated in the Condolence Meeting.
