A delegation from Fruit & Vegetable Joint Action Committee headed by Mr.
Abdul Khaliq Yousuf, Vice Chairman, All Pakistan Fruit & Vegetable
Exporters, Importers and Merchants Association called on Mr. Anjum Nisar,
President KCCI. Haji Akhtar Baluch, Chairman, Joint Action Committee, New
Sabzi/Fruit Mandi, Super Highway, Karachi thanked the President of KCCI for
sparing his precious time to this meeting.
The various problems faced by the
new Vegetable & Fruit Market, Super Highway were discussed with particular
reference to the Charter of Demands put by the Joint Action Committee before
the higher authorities of the Government of Sindh.The said Charter of
Demands was also submitted to the Agriculture Department, Government of
Sindh.
Despite their follow up with the Minister of Agriculture, Government of
Sindh, Chief Secretary, Govt. of Sindh and Secretary Agriculture, Govt. of
Sindh, no steps are being taken by the concerned authorities for audit of
the funds and to constitute market Committee and select Chairman and Vice
Chairman from stake holders.
The Committee Members requested President KCCI for extending his good
offices to raise their point of view before the high-ups of the Government
of Sindh to resolve long pending issues on priority basis.
Mr. Anjum Nisar, while welcoming the delegation stated that KCCI has always
been on forefront to resolve the genuine problems of Business Community of
Karachi at all appropriate levels and in recent past, while a murder was
committed in the subzi/fruit Mandi, he himself immediately rushed to the
higher authorities for providing safety and security to the traders of the
Sabzi Mandi and in future he would strongly recommend the present problems
to the concerned authorities and all efforts shall be made to arrange a
meeting at KCCI for resolution of all issues on priority basis with the
Minister for Agriculture.
President KCCI urged concerned authorities to consider the genuine demands
of Joint Action Committee of Sabzi & Fruit Mandi, Super Highway on urgent
basis.
