BM. Why CPLC came into being?
Ans: The main idea behind the establishment of CPLC was to deal with the situations that upset the peace of common man. For example kidnapping for ransom cases rose to sky-high in 1989-90, mostly in Karachi. CPLC followed a certain code of conduct in the maintenance of law and order as well as in the prevention and detection of such crimes.

BM. Why Karachi in particular had bee targeted?
Ans: we cannot deny the fact about Quaid's city being the business hub of the country. It was, therefore, it is important to built and project an image of trustworthiness, helpfulness and social co consciousness.

BM. How far have you been able to success in achieving those goals, which you had envisioned for your set up?
Ans: As I mentioned before, a strong and good inter-relationship between police and public is of utmost importance. Police should realize their role is to assist the people for their goal and the same time, the public should not be hostile in its attitude towards them. I would say there has been some difference in it, as CPLC has now become a specialized team, narrowing the bridge between the two handling and dealing with streets crimes, kidnapping for ransom, car theft cases and others too are organized significantly.

BM. What is the basic factor in dealing with a crime?
Ans: Proper information is the key to success in most of such cases. By collecting proper information, we can monitor, prevent and make operations against the suspects. CPLC is now maintaining 20 years old FIR records and dates in this regard.

BM. "Car theft" is also one of the major serious crimes? How CPLC helping people in getting it solved?
Ans: CPLC brings out car thefts crime data on monthly basis. In this way we maintain an image of Karachi city that enables us to know the location, timing, make a proper strategy of the stolen vehicles.

BM: "Cell phone" snatching has become a common street crime. What do you say about this?
Ans: "Mobile theft" is at the top of the street crimes. In 2006 CPLC started working on it, bringing down the number of snatched or stolen cell phones from 400-500 peoples. We encourage the victim to report directly at our help line serving 24/7. This credibility of CPLC has made the Asian development Bank to pay an amount of three hundred and fifty million dollars in connection with their "access to justice" programme.

BM. What message would you like to give to our readers, businessmen, educated and professionals of our country?
Ans: The Progress of human race lies in education specially "in an economically backward country like ours, education should be cheap enough to pursuit every one to reap its benefits. We must all put our hands together to drive out illiteracy from our country.
