Mrs. Mishi Masika Mwatsahu, High Commissioner
of Republic of Kenya in Pakistan along with Mr. Antony Kiriba, First
Secretary (P), Mr. Samuel K. Chemisto, Commercial Attache, and Mr. David N.
Wambilianga, First Secretary, Consular & Honorary Consul visited FPCCI Head
office Karachi on Thursday, June 4, 2009 to discuss enhancement of bilateral
trade between Kenya & Pakistan Mr. Sultan Ahmad Chawla, President,
Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry FPCCI valued the
mutual relationship which Pakistan enjoys with Kenya.
He has shown Pakistan 's full interest in expanding trade with its friendly
and brotherly country Kenya . He lauded Mrs. Mishi and Mr. Hanif Janoo,
Honorary Consul General of Kenya in Karachi for their efforts in
continuously promoting trade between Pakistan and Kenya. Mrs.Mishi showed
her keen desire in accelerating trade with Pakistan.
She highlighted that Kenya seeks interest from Pakistan in increasing rice
imports, skilled labour and education Services, similarly Kenyan tea is the
most favorite tea consumed in Pakistan. She added that Kenyan businessmen
are keen to form Joint Ventures with Pakistani Businessmen, which will
eventually increase the foreign exchange for both the countries.
Mr. Chawla mentioned that Pakistan 's potential manpower will be a great
help for Kenya; this will benefit them in setting up industries. He
emphasized Kenya to consider the pharmaceuticals and surgical goods imports
from Pakistan, he added that FPCCI will initiate, help and hold JBC with
Kenya, but need the Kenyan support and cooperation in organizing the same.
He further mentioned that FPCCI would take a trade delegation tentatively in
the third quarter of 2009 to Kenya. He also requested the High Commissioner
to consider holding a Single Country Exhibition for Pakistani Products in
Kenya.
Mr. Mumtaz Ali Sheikh, Vice President FPCCI, Mr. Hanif Janoo, Honorary
Consul General of Kenya, Nasiruddin Sheikh, Dr. Mushtaq Noorwala, Executive
Committee Members, Mr. M.A.Lodhi, Secretary General FPCCI, & Mr. Maher Alam
Khan, Assistant Secretary General FPCCI also attended the meeting. |
