The Areas of Mutual Interests between Academia & Chamber to be Explored to Strengthen Sustainable relationship Mr. Anjum Nisar

The meeting to enhance joint cooperation between health & education sub-committee and leading business institutes of Karachi was held on June 18, 2009 at KCCI library. The meeting was presided by Mr. Anjum Nisar, President, KCCI. Mr. Mohammad Ali, Vice President, KCCI, Dr. Islam Hamid, Chairman, Sub Committee, Managing Committee Members, Members of subcommittee, leading educationist like Dr. Abdul Wahab, VC, Muhammad Ali Jinnah University, Dr. Nasim Khan, VC, Hamdard University, Dr. Izhar M. Hussain, Director, Centre for Executive Education, IBA, Dr. CDR ® Aurangzeb, Head of Department, Business Administration, Dadabhoy Institute, Dr. Wasiuddin Zuberi, CEO, IBMI, Dr. Makhdoomi, Dean, Dept. of Civil Engineering, SSUET, Syed Aamir Rafi, Director, PIMSAT and others attended the meeting.

At this meeting, the President highly appreciated the purpose of meeting and said the areas of mutual interests between academia & Chamber to be explored and to strengthen sustainable relationship which would provide the economic robustness to the country. Mr. President elaborated the importance of quality education and said the quality of education is a multidimensional concept, which should embrace all its functions, activities, teaching, academics programs, research and scholarships.

In order to maintain the standard of education, the independent body should be established so that the society would be able to reap all fruits of education. The President of KCCI was very much concerned about less allocation of funds. He said that if the allocations of funds enhanced upto 5% of GDP instead of currently about 2% the whole education system would be revived.

Dr. Abdul Wahab, Dr. Nasim Khan, Dr. Makhdoomi, Dr. Izhar M. Hussain, Dr. CDR ® Aurangzeb, Dr. Wasiuddin Zuberi, and others stressed the need of fruitful liaison between KCCI and Academia in order to resolve the both side issues and to develop the sustainable relationship among In concluding remarks, Dr. Islam Hamid, Chairman, H&E Sub-Committee, KCCI suggested that health & education subcommittee, KCCI in coordination with leading educational institutes will constitute a task force on urgent basis to organize meetings, bilateral lectures and subsequent seminars in order to resolve the issues related with research & developments, import/export, internship, job replacement etc of this sector.
