Pakistan-Tunisia to enhance bi-lateral trade

Pakistan-Tunisia Bi-lateral trade must be enhanced due to huge potential market, stated jointly by Anjum Nisar, President Karachi Chamber & Industry and H.E. Mourad Bourehla, Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia, in a meeting held at Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry. President KCCI briefed about the strategic role of KCCI towards promotion of trade & business activities at national & international level.

He stated that Pakistani business community in general & Karachi Business Community in particular is very keen in development of bi-lateral trade being Muslim friendly country Tunisia having same religious and cultural values. He urged to enhance the trade of value-added textile, leather products, surgical & sports goods to Tunisia. He also emphasized on need of trade promoting exhibitions and fairs between two countries.

He also articulated about the possibilities of joint venture between two countries in the textile as well as agro-based sectors. President-KCCI asserted to seek out the potential of exports of halal food, livestock & dairy product to Tunisia and in reciprocal to import olive oil & fertilizer products. He also suggested the Ambassador to organize single country exhibitions in both countries.

H.E. Mourad Bourehla, Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia expressed his gratitude to KCCI & the business community for their interest to enhance bilateral trade. He was of the view that it was need of the day to explore new avenues of trade between both countries having same religion & cultural values. He highlighted about the great opportunities of trade with Tunisia and urged to exchange the trade delegations.

He informed that plan was underway to bring a Tunisian business delegation to Pakistan sooner. He informed that Airlines operate daily flights to Tunisia via Doha & Dubai. To expand the bilateral trade, President KCCI & Tunisian Ambassador agreed to identify products and leading trading companies of both sides and encourage them for quantum leap in bilateral trade. President-KCCI invited Tunisian Ambassador for participation of Tunisian Trade & Industrial sector in the next annual "My-Karachi Exhibition-2010" of KCCI.

Iftikhar Soomro, Honorary Consul General of Tunisia, H.E. Zuhair Economic Counsellor of Tunisia and members of Managing Committee of KCCI also attended the meeting. President-KCCI presented crest to the Ambassador of Tunisia.
