PRESIDENT, KARACHI CHAMBER OF COMMERCE &
INDUSTRY (KCCI), Abdul Majid Haji Muhammad, Senior Vice President,
Rasheeduddin Rashid, Vice President, Javed Ahmed Vohra and Chairman,
Communication Sub-committee, Khurram Saigal, in a press statement, expressed
their grievances and disappointment against new levies of Pakistan
Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Universal Access Number (UAN) users.
Today when businesses and industries are already suffering from various
problems like frequent power failure, high lending rate, instable political
and economic situations. Another threat is being again faced by business
community in shape of newly imposed heavy charges on UAN users by PTA.
Imposing of new heavy charges by PTA is unjustified and it holds huge
negative impact and ultimately there will be no more user exist taking
advantages through UAN services, Abdul Majid Haji Muhammad said.
KCCI being premier body representing the business community of Karachi and
financial hub of the country, received complaints from its valued members
that PTA imposing new levies in form of Categories "A to D" ranging
exorbitant charges amount from Rs.20,000 to Rs.500,000 in advance for next
05 Years which is totally unjustified and a heavy burden on user. Though,
UAN users are already paying a handsome amount to the authority.
KCCI strongly demands PTA to avoid imposing these levies on UAN users due to
current economic and business scenario, where business houses are being
shut- down and request from authorities take these kinds of measures in good
business state of affairs. |
