KARACHI - Indus Motor Company Chief Executive
Officer Parvez Ghias said the auto industry was experiencing an
unprecedented decline in sale of automobiles.
He was speaking at second National Auto-Journalists Awards (NAJA) organised
in Karachi on Thursday.
"We
are meeting amidst a world economic recession and like most countries
Pakistan is also passing through a challenging period and the auto industry
specifically has faced an unprecedented decline in sales," he said.
He, however, said that with the government support it is expected that
decline in the auto industry will be arrested and the industry will see some
growth in coming years.
He highlighted that NAJA aims to identify best practices in the field of
auto reporting and inculcate a competitive spirit in journalism, and IMC is
proud to be a facilitator in this movement to encourage capacity building of
local media and to give them momentum for continuous development in terms of
professional and personal growth.
Meanwhile, Sindh Information Minister Shazia Murri said that city government
at Karachi was being used to empower a parallel governmental system which is
against the federal unity, so it has to be abolished, however some major
changes in political set up are to be seen next year.
She was talking to the media at Pakistan's 2nd National Auto-Journalists
Awards (NAJA) here at local hotel, where she hailed the city nazim's
decision of taking back petition against CM Sindh and termed it a good
gesture for the betterment of democratic process in the country and that
there is no confrontation between the government and its allies. She further
said that negotiation are being carried out among the political parties and
government regarding local besides elections to be held at appropriate time
and for that matter committees have been formed at provincial levels to help
grass root political and social set up through local city governments not to
build states with in a state sues. |
