Mr.
Anjum Nisar, President Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mr. Muhammad
Jawed Bilwani, Senior Vice President KCCI & Mr. Mohammad Ali Vice President,
KCCI in a press release strongly condemned the recent tariff rise in
electricity by the KESC/NEPRA.
They said that in the prevailing financial crises, it would hamper the
business activities badly. Decline in foreign exchange reserves, prevailing
economic recession and financial crises does not warrant any further step to
hoodwink the business community.
They are of the view that despite repeated demands by KCCI, the copy of the
agreement regarding change of management of KESC has not been made
available to KCCI.
They demanded the government to immediately take steps directing KESC/NEPRA
to withdraw the recent rise in electricity tariff and provide copy of the
agreement of change of management of KESC to KCCI on urgent basis.
They further
demanded the government that business community must be taken into
confidence before taking any decision to change utilities prices.
