President, Karachi Chamber of Commerce &
Industry, Abdul Majid Haji Muhammad, in a press note, while recalling his
Policy Speech on assumption
of
his charge as President-KCCI on 1st October, 2009, announced that
establishing of Facilitation Desks to facilitate KCCI members regarding
Utilities, Electricity, Gas issues, Investment, Textile & Export Affairs at
KCCI with effect from 2nd October, 2009.
Abdul Majid informed that power crisis & its increased tariffs is a burning
issue of the day which has engulfed the whole country. Consumer despite of
timely payments are deprived of continuous supply of electricity. Their
complaints are also not timely addressed. Therefore, a dedicated
facilitation desk has been established to facilitate its KCCI members
regarding their issues and problems particularly related to electricity &
KESC and generally for other utilities like gas and water. He further
informed that KCCI members may also call KCCI's PCLC Cell at 99218080 &
99218070 wherein staff is available 24/7 to support them regarding KESC
related complaints.
Abdul Majid apprised that the another Special Facilitation Desk for
Investors is also established which will facilitate the investors to provide
them the meaningful information and case studies and success stories of
various business ventures in Pakistan. The said desk would not only help in
stopping
the flight capital but it will also motivate the investors the invest in the
unexplored, untapped sector and the sectors where the attention of investors
it low but the sectors' potentials are high, vis-à-vis, horticulture, dairy
farming, fish & shrimp and livestock farming, herbal medicine, food
processing, frozen food items, alternate energy through wind, coal, supply
chain solutions, purpose-built temperate control warehouses and modern
logistic solutions etc., he added.
Abdul Majid informed that this Facilitation Desk will ideally function with
the collaboration of Sindh Board of Investment which will provide the
extensive support to the said desk. A proposal for KCCI & SBoI joint
Facilitation Desk has already been submitted to Sindh Board of Investment.
Another desk is also established which will facilitate regarding issues
related to export-oriented industry and textile industry.
Abdul Majid concluded that the said Facilitation Desks are functional from
2nd October, 2009 and KCCI's professional deputy secretaries are available
to assist the honourable members of KCCI during the Chamber's timings at
