The
PTCL was able to earn a profit of Rs 6 billion in the first quarter of
financial year 2008-2009, says a press release. Corporate social
responsibility was established as the main pillar of the PTCL management
policy making the organisation donated heavily to earthquake victims of
Balochistan and to Benazir Income Support Programme for the poor families.
PTCL also offered the lowest international call rates to sixteen
destinations worldwide along with International Direct Dialling facility to
help bring people closer.
PTCL was the first to introduce the broadband technology in Pakistan via its
vast network- lowering the cost and the barriers to this technology making
it affordable to the common Pakistani customer.
The rectification of line complaint time was reduced from days to 30 minutes
in several major cities. New customer service centres were opened in 2008 to
improve service to the customers. Provision of Broad band facilities to over
100 cities in Pakistan was a major mile stone covered by the PTCL thanks to
the management and workers new healthy relationship which helped the
organization achieve the aim of providing state of the art technology and
new IT products to its customers.
The PTCL, Etisalat collaboration has helped launch new products and become a
trendsetter for foreign investors in telecom sector attracting FDI from
China Mobile, Singtel, and World Call. Through this unique collaboration,
technical personnel of PTCL would not only benefit financially through
Etisalat employment but would also bring back latest technologies and
expertise in the country.
In 2008 the PTCL managements vision to play a role in the development of
Pakistan too fructified in the form of agreements with private sector
organizations.
In pursuance of this policy PTCL signed an agreement with EMAAR, Pakistan to
provide state-of-the-art Information and Communications Technology (ICT)
services for its major housing-commercial development projects situated in
Islamabad and Karachi. |
